Azithromycin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the macrolide group, acts on Gram+, Gram- and Anaerobic bacteria, intracellular microorganisms such as Chlamydias and Mycoplasmas, and also against Protozoa such as Coccidia and Toxoplasmas. Its pharmacokinetics stand out for excellent oral absorption and rapid bioavailability, reaching high concentration in tissues, at the infection site and at the intracellular level. Moreover, it is eliminated as an active antibiotic via bile, feces and urine. Its great post-antibiotic effect allows for short and effective therapies.
